The Benefits of Massage

Massage is often seen as some sort of extravagant luxury. Few people think of it as a working cure. It is. Massage therapy is one of the simplest and oldest forms of medicine. It is mentioned in Chinese medical literature 2700 years before Christ.

Even Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, wrote in the 5th AD that "a doctor should be experienced in many things, but especially in massaging ... massaging can bind a loose joint and loosen a joint that is too tight. ". I think Hippocrates knew something ...

Just think about your first reaction when you hit your toe or your head. You instinctively start to probe the affected area. Or, in the case of a calf night break, what's the first thing you do ...? You get there right away and you start to push. These completely natural, genetically encoded reactions show the very essence of massage. This is all proof that the human touch has healing power.

The source of pain

It is a known fact that most pain comes from the soft tissues of the body. For example, headaches often originate in the upper back and neck and head muscles. Lower back pain and coccyx also originate in the muscles and do not necessarily indicate a problem with the disc.

For some of the symptoms, standard massage therapy may directly eliminate the need for surgery. For example, carpal tunnel syndrome, which is often surgically corrected, is one of the conditions that can be treated with regular massage.

If someone has carpal tunnel syndrome, they may experience pain and numbness in their hands and fingers. However, the source of the problem is the head and neck muscles !!!

Whatever the symptom or disease, massage involves the concept that the soft tissues of the body, muscles, fascia, joints and tendons respond to touch. Research has confirmed that regular massage increases the range of movement, reduces the time needed for regeneration, improves muscle tone and flexibility.

Since massage functions as a kind of "extra heart" to improve circulation, it also helps to eliminate toxins and other metabolic products that accumulate in the body as a result of weight training. In addition, massage also reduces the time needed to heal in case of injury.

I have an incredible story about this. One of my clients stretched his shoulders with hatchback manual weight. Not only did he lose weight because of this, it was worse; when he got up off the bench, he could not move his arms practically. The real muscle aches came to him the next day and he had to stop his workouts as well.

When he called and told me what had happened, I suspected he had been ironically overstretched by the connective tissue in his shoulder, causing trauma to the area. I was absolutely right.

During a deep muscle massage, I also felt tension in the shoulder joint, which not only caused pain but also reduced the normal range of motion. Massage of connective tissue in this area stimulated circulation, which naturally promoted healing.

After only three sessions, within a three week period, the range of motion of the joint returned to normal and my client was able to return to the gym and continue training without any problems. I think Hippocrates was right when he said that massage "relaxes too tight joints".

Why Massage Regularly?

I do not claim that three weeks is enough to eliminate all kinds of trouble. However, I strongly recommend that you devote yourself to regular massage, which will ensure that every system of our body functions optimally. And for us, who are committed to gym work, regular massage will improve performance, promote growth, and reduce the risk of injury.

So regular massage is much more than a gentleman's fancy or luxury. It's rather an investment in yourself, an investment in your own health.
